    The Healthy Indian Diet

I've been more and more interested in trying and making Indian food lately.  I make Mark Bittman's dal and even the neighbor kids like it.  But I don't know much about the cuisine and all of the recipes I've cooked actually come from old white guys (Bittman, and Andrew Weil.) Indian ...

    Christmas Gifts for Active Kids

It's time for toy shopping. I'm not a big fan of toys that do only one thing, make a lot of electronic noises, and limit the imagination.  I want toys that inspire the mind and encourage the kids to be active; open ended toys that can be played with by children ...

Stools: WFMW

by Milehimama on July 13, 2010

in works for me wednesday

My kids help me cook.

Often.

And I have a stool in the kitchen that is more or less a permanent fixture.  It’s light enough that the 4 yo can move it, but heavy enough not to tip over.

It’s safer than standing on a kitchen chair, and they can see what I’m doing and help out.  Instead of trying to peer over the counter, they can have a bird’s eye view!

It folds up flat for storage (although it’s always out) and is very sturdy.  I’ve had it for 7 or 8 years now, and it’s stable enough for a 2 year old or a pregnant woman to climb on.  It’s the best stool I’ve ever owned.

We use our stool a thousand times a day.  It’s an essential piece of kitchen equipment around here.

What a great post! I agree, they’re super and it’s so much easier than holding the kids while cooking.

We have that same stool! We use it for everything.

I have the same stool too. Exact same one. But I keep mine folded up and stored next to the fridge in between the fridge and the cabinet. I don’t use it too much and my kids are tall enough now they don’t need it. Actually my DH steals it alot and I have to go out to his shop and get it back when I need it.

I don’t know how immature it makes me that the word stool makes me laugh like Beavis & Butthead.

That stool is essential!

I’m actually commenting on those THIGHS on that sweetie-pie! My son had those and they were just too cute.

He’s 8 now, with long ol’ legs with nary a roll. *sigh* I miss those thighs…

I wish we had this when I was growing up. I was always a little leery about using an old wooden chair!

Cute pictures!
