May a thousand hot coals be heaped upon the head of the inventor of “underbelly” maternity pants. May they have to fix dinner whilst hitching their britches up 3,000 times.
Underbelly maternity pants so don’t work for me. Unfortunately, it’s all the stores seem to be stocking right now. I had just resigned myself to hiking up my pants and seriously contemplating suspenders.
Then I found the Bella Band. I was skeptical, but it is actually cheaper than maternity clothes so I thought I’d try it.
It really works! It kept my pants up! And YES! I can wear some of my prepregnancy clothes with it! It also works great on too big maternity clothes – you know you’ll grow into them but you’re not quite that big yet.
What a great invention. Take that, Liz Lang!
Don’t forget to link up your Glamour of a SAHMer post tomorrow! Tell me the weird, wild, or dirtiest thing you’ve done recently as a SAHM.
Linking up!

I agree. Those pants don’t work for me either. I recently posted about making my own maternity pants (and I’m not a seamstress!) The Bella band works for me, but in the summer I can’t stand the extra layer, too hot. Thankfully, winter is coming. Whee!!!!
Oh, I am so with you on this one! Underbelly maternity pants are just evil! Thanks for the tip.
I found the Bella Band (or a similar item) at a maternity store when I was first pregnant. They are great to wear until you get to be too big. Thanks for a great post.
I thought I was the only one who hated under-belly pants! Sadly, I hated the Bella Band, too. I wound up stalking Goodwill for the old-school, super fashionable (ha!) full-panel maternity pants.
I love underbelly pants and can’t imagine wearing a full panel up and over my belly. I’m used to wearing low-rise jeans and even now it bothers me to have anything above my belly button.
I found that it did take until I was about 7 months before the underbelly ones were fully fine on their own but I loved them regardless. It also depended on the type of fabric the pants were made of; mine needed a little stretch. With my next pregnancy, I plan to have a few Bella Bands (most likely homemade ones) on hand though for versatility.
Just fixing my blog link.
Congrats on your new little one! So happy for you (and more than a bit jealous
I like empire-waisted dresses. Unfortunately, I only have 3 buttondown dresses, so not sure what I’ll do if I’m ever pregnant and nursing in the second trimester or further….
I really liked the Target maternity clothes. The pants are extremely comfortable, and I got mine for $4.24 a pair! WFM!
