We love watermelon around here. I often see watermelon recipes I’d like to try, but it never lasts long enough for me to do anything too complicated to it. It’s nice to have a dressed up version of simple, basic slices sometimes though and this easy add-on does the trick!
My mother recently started serving watermelon with lime slices, and the sweet/sour is so fresh and good! The kids really love squirting their own lime wedges all over the watermelon slices.
Meanwhile, my husband sometimes buys Mexican watermelon candy- a spicy sour hard candy.
I was inspired to add chili powder to our watermelon snack and it added an awesome south of the border kick.
The chili powder I buy in bulk at Costco, and it’s more flavor than spice.
This is great dessert for summertime Mexican meals or grilling parties.
Try it sometime! Just squeeze some lime juice on a slice of watermelon and add a shake of chili powder. Tastes like summer!
