Grocery Store Gift Baskets

HEB recently sent me a Valentine’s gift basket that was chock full of cah-uteness.  I had no idea that my store carried some of this stuff, but I think making a gift basket out of grocery store goodies is both budget friendly and a huge time saver.

It’s not really hard to make a gift basket, and it’s a good way to give many small inexpensive items a thoughtful presentation.  Just gather some things together with some kind of a theme, and have fun!  This basket’s theme was “Pampered Diva” with a Valentine’s Day twist.

Now, I have to say that I’m not really a hearts-n-glitter kind of gal. Actually, I think glitter was invented by the devil.  Just my personal opinion now that I’m a mom and have to clean it up after projects.

But I do admit, this HEB basket had me with their nail polish.  Red glitter manicures aren’t really part of my everyday life but once in a while, you’ve got to shake things up!  So I let Miss C give me a pedi.

Don’t worry, I have some socks on standby. :)

Check this out!  Is that not the cutest blush you’ve ever seen?  The Happy Booster worked- how could you not be happy putting this on?  You can’t see it but it has just the slightest hint of glitter.  Yes, apparently I’m 12 years old and thought of putting hearts and glitter on my face made me smile.

See this little mirror compact.  Love.  So did my girls, but I’m not giving it up, yet.

Mr P saw the basket and heard the girls calling dibs on the nail polish, so he thought he’d claim the chocolate.

ha ha ha, he’s such a kidder. Never. Gonna. Happen!

Now that I think about it, the grocery store is a genius place to put together a gift basket.

  • Make a romance basket- wine, flowers, chocolates, candles.
  • Make a foodie basket- fill a pot or container with a recipe, the ingredients to cook, and a few kitchen gadgets.
  • Make a get well basket- comfort foods, chicken soup, orange juice, cough drops, tissues, and magazines.
  • Make a Diva basket (like the one I received), with cosmetics, accessories, maybe a scarf or jeweled bobby pins.

Really, the variations are endless and you can make a basket to fit any budget.

Have you bought gifts at the grocery store before?

Blogging with Integrity: HEB, a Texas grocer, sent me a complimentary basket but I was not required to post nor was I compensated in any other way.  All opinions are my own- and all the chocolate is already gone!

I often send gift baskets of local favorites like brown bread and chowder (I am in New England) to friends who have moved far away. They are great for home sick college students too.
