Get your recipes ready! I’ll be hosting a carnival of Meatless Meals next Tuesday, Feb. 16 – just in time for Lent!
Here are the rules:
Post a dish on your blog that doesn’t use meat or meat products (i.e., chicken stock, bacon bits, etc.)
Link back to me in your post, and then put your link into the McLinky which will be up at the bottom of the post.
Tofu, egg, fish, and seafood recipes are allowed!

Questions:
1. Aren’t fish and seafood meat too?
2. Would menus including meatless meals count? I’m doing my weekly menu plan and frequently include meatless meals. Or does it have to be 100% meat free?
Technically fish and seafood are meat (i.e., flesh of animals) but for Lenten fasting purposes they are allowed, so I’m allowing them in my carnival. And by all means link up to your menu as long as you include a recipe! It can be hearty side dishes meat free, too!
According to Canon Law, using chicken broth, bacon drippings, lard, butter, etc. are not forbidden on Fridays during Lent. Of course, vegetable broth is a fine substitute, but may not always be available. I posted a list of meatless dishes on my blog:
