6 Reasons Moms Need Business Cards

I have business cards, and boy, do they come in handy.  How?  Here's some of the ways I use my cards. 1. Give them to other moms.  How often have you scrambled for a scrap of paper to write down your phone number for a mother of your child's classmate or ...

    How To Clean a Whiteboard

Last year, we moved our school room from the little office/den to the family room.  When we ditched the office, we ditched the white board. A year later, I finally got a clue and realized that I could reclaim this space for a home office instead of wasting it on mere ...

    The Healthy Indian Diet

I've been more and more interested in trying and making Indian food lately.  I make Mark Bittman's dal and even the neighbor kids like it.  But I don't know much about the cuisine and all of the recipes I've cooked actually come from old white guys (Bittman, and Andrew Weil.) Indian ...

    Christmas Gifts for Active Kids

It's time for toy shopping. I'm not a big fan of toys that do only one thing, make a lot of electronic noises, and limit the imagination.  I want toys that inspire the mind and encourage the kids to be active; open ended toys that can be played with by children ...

7 Quick Takes #5

by Milehimama on June 19, 2009

in Mama Says Randomness

1.

My little sister came to visit this week but she has to go home tomorrow.  It’s really been a godsend, since husband dear had to return to work right away.  Wonder how I’ll fare next week, when it’s back to just me and the kids?  Prepare for reruns from my old blog!

It was really great having someone to start the little dinner things, help at the store so I didn’t have to lift, and hang out with.  There aren’t any other SAHMs in my neighborhood that I know of so the company was nice, too.

2.

Fat baby arm

Sigh.  I love fat baby arms.

3.

5 Embarrassing Grammatical Mistakes

Good to know.  Now, please, for the love of all that is decent, stop the apostrophe abuse, Internets!

4.

I planted 12 zucchini plants (!)  I know, what was I thinking?  I have a black thumb, so I guess I was hedgizucchini-cookbookng my bets.

I think I’m going to need this site.

I’d love to hear any ideas for preserving zucchini without using the freezer!

5.

Remember how I wrote about the new White House Press Agency?  Looks like ABC is the new WH broadcast lapdog.

BTW – before getting your news from NBC, be aware that it is 80% owned by GE.  GE has much to gain from Obama, and would benefit greatly from the new electronic records, green technology requirements, and more.

6.

I never knew how much of a control freak I was until someone else has been completely in charge of cleaning the kitchen for the last few weeks.  I went to the grocery store, and realized I didn’t even know what we had in the fridge!

Quite honestly, I had no idea I was so particular.  Must work on that… having a husband who takes over all of the cooking and dishes after he gets home from work is a blessing!

7.diehappy obama rationed care

Looks like Obamacare might be derailing.  Thank goodness!  Anyone who has ever gone to the DMV tp renew their license should be very, very afraid of what their yearly physical scheduling will look like.  It’s pretty telling when the AMA comes out against it (although now they don’t have a position).

If you don’t want to be forced to buy health insurance or see rationed care, keep pressing your representatives on this issue.  We do need to fix parts of the system, but Obama’s plan is NOT the solution.

I love that sweet picture of your little girl. She is such a cutie. I love the baby fat too.

Just a note on #3; I am SO there with you on the apostrophes. It has become an epidemic. I drive down the road and see signs for “Bee’s for pollenization” and “Egg’s for sale” UGH. WHEN did it become common to use apostrophes for plurals? It doesn’t even make any sense. My sister and I have a new term for the misuse: apostrophizing LOL.
