Today is the second installment of Glamour of a SAHMer – a place to share and commiserate about all of the thankless, weird, and gross things we do. What’s the most “glamorous” (not) thing you did this week?
This week I was felled by a stomach virus. So far only one of the kids has gotten it. And cleaning up their mess while you’re queasy yourself? Sometimes you just have to suck it up and be the mom. Has that every happened to you?
And I was going to write an entertaining blog post about it but… I was sick. Yeah.
Share your experiences this week! Links close on Sunday, May 30.

My family of five all fell sick last October. (The first time I had heaved in over 25 years!) You know who cleaned it all up and you know who asked later “Were you sick?” Beginning to end was two weeks, so I am hoping we have our quota in for a while!
Hannah’s puked on electronic toy actually made a full recovery.
No illness so nothing this week was that horrid, although some of it felt pretty bad at the time.
Two nights ago we could not convince the baby to sleep, because I fed him cereal too late and he didn’t want to nurse. By the time he was willing to nurse to sleep it was midnight. Don’t know how long it took because I wasn’t awake for it. And the night was as hard on DH as on me, because he was being a wonderful, considerate husband and stayed up with me.
So of course the next day he was tired and miserable. And Hannah told me that she did not need a nap, while not whining, so I believed her. By 4 she was ready for a nap, but it was too late, so picking up after dinner was even more of a chore than usual, complete with screaming and whining breakdowns, and took over an hour….
I prayed for wisdom. The problem is too many toys out. I don’t have time to put toys away, ever. Or even to do dishes and laundry most days…
and we put her to bed, and I prayed with her, and we bathed the baby, and nursed him to sleep… by around 9! and then… Hannah woke up. and we put her to bed, and she woke up. But the baby slept 8 hours, and is asleep again now, and Hannah is pleasant, so everything seems wonderful at the moment. Isn’t it wonderful how everything depends on getting 6 hours of sleep or so, and when I do, it’s all good?
Oh, and then there was the horrible, horrible constipation and cramping yesterday during my shopping time (and I have to go shopping then, FIL takes me.) Don’t know what’s with that ‘cuz I failed my test this morning.

Isn’t that always the way? I think that a class in how to get everyone to sleep at the same time should be mandatory for parents. Because while we’ve gotten better, I still don’t have it down! And if anyone is awake – then I’m usually awake, too.
I think sleep is one of the most important things a mother needs in order to fulfill her vocation.
