The Dump was one of our favorite places to shop in VA! We got a lot of our furniture from there.

I just got a new couch for our new house at American?(got a free 60 inch TV out of the deal!!) It's a sectional and seemed very comfy...not going to get to use it until the house is finished though...LOL BTW DH hates it! But...I let him have his way for the downstairs furniture( which I hate)..so He let me have what I want upstairs....

I've also been really happy with the quality of stuff I've ordered from Overstock.com...

Ikea stuff really is hit or miss. Good luck with your search!

Oooh, I think it takes a special kind of faith to order furniture online! I'm not sure I'm brave enough, but I'll check out the site! Thanks!

Homereserve.com !!! You can customize your couch, pick fabric and BUILD your own couch! That is what we used to do... The fabric comes off and is machine washable... and when the fabric gets old or ruined you just replace it!

No I don't work for them... I just liked their sofa.

I LOVE Ikea! But most of their sofas are fiberboard, except for their really nice ones which are very modern, expensive, and lllloooowwww. If I was pregnant, I'd never be able to launch myself up and out of them.

I did buy two new school tables there, though - less than $70 each for a solid wood table!

Personally, I'd just buy slip covers for the ones we have (there are holes, tears, and the seats are just wearing out) but husband wants new. (But we've gotten freecycle couches more than once!)

You could always try the scratch and dent at IKEA. Plus, they have a kid area so you could have some free babysitting while you and DH strolled.

And there's always Craigslist and Freecycle. :)

You could always go Middle Eastern and do floor pillows! ;) Now, that's inexpensive. We've almost done this, but we do have two Papasan chairs from World Market. Even then, the kiddos take the giant round cushions off, put them on the floor, and veg. out on them. The children love it, and we have so much more room to romp around... easy to clean too.

Papasans are quite comfortable for the adults too. We got the foot stools to match.

Oh, thanks for the tip! It's my husband who wants new couches (I think he's kind of sick of fixing the ones we have) but now that I know we're getting new ones, our tax refund is burning a hole in my pocket! I want something that wears like iron, for sure!

We paid a chunk of money for our furniture, but got EXACTLY what we wanted at Bassett. I told the sales lady I wanted fabric that "wears like iron" and will hold up to 4 kids that love to jump off it. One seam came loose, on the armnchair, but Bassett picked it up, fixed it, AND restuffed it with more stuffing, AND had it back at my house, no charge in 3 days. It's held up very, very well...and let me tell you, my four kids have beat our furniture up, but you can't tell at all.
