Pop Quiz!

I have my blog reader all subcategorized and parceled out – Moms, Bloggy Friends, Homeschool and Education, Food, Homemaking, Politics, and so on.
There are a few blogs that defy categorization (Common Room, anyone?) and I let them hang out in Reader all by themselves.
I would like to know how you, lovely readers, would categorize MY blog. Why do you read my blog? What parts do you like the most? Which posts do you “mark as read” when, in fact, you have not read them?

If I had my feeds categorized (which I don’t), I would probably put in in Catholic. That’s how I think of you, but I enjoy reading most everything you write. I love cooking (eating!), so I always like reading about that. I’m probably less inclined to read the homeschool articles in detail, just because we don’t homeschool, but I do always at least skim them, because I am interested in the topic, and we might end up homeschooling some day. My husband is not a homeschool fan, so right now our kids are in a private Christian school and I work during school hours. But we may not always be in a position to do private school, so I try to be as knowledgable about homeschooling as I can.

I read it for the children updates, mostly. I am shamelessly addicted to your prose though and read EVERY. SINGLE. POST. And if, for some reason, I miss a few months, I will go back in the archives and read them. In chronological order.

I read everything that you write. Always. I especially like reading about your children, but I also like your comments about your faith. And, like you, I abhor some of the things that our present government is involved with. God help us!

I like reading about how you handle your large family. (I have only one child-so you are a rock star in my eyes.) I like the cooking posts and how you handle feeding your family on a budget, etc.

What an interesting question! I DO put some of my blogs in categories, you are in Food, along with Slashfood, Cookthink, Bitten, 30 Bucks a week, Grocery Cart Challenge, Cheap Healthy Good, and The Blog That Ate Manhattan, among others. I first encountered your blog from a comment you left on the blog of that guy who was doing a foodstamp challenge for CNN. You and TBTAM are the only ones who regularly mix politics with food, household details, etc.
One of the reasons I keep coming back is that I seems to be a bit of a large family groupie. I was an only child, and I have two young adult children, so your life is so foreign to me…
We don’t often agree politically, but so what? Who says we have to agree to communicate?

I searched for blogs that contained mentions of food stamps and found yours. I stay and read every post mostly because of this. My family also receives food stamps. It’s refreshing to read someone who is honest with everyone. I like how you also are doing a real food diet, it’ll be interesting to read your journey. =)

I don’t categorize. Don’t do blog-feeds either. Every blog I read from someone I don’t know personally in real life is a quiverfull or large family blog. Because, frankly, that’s what I can’t get in real life and what I like reading about, so I use the internet to feel like there are lots of other people like us.
I read the politics and the big family stuff with most interest. I skip the stuff on what you bought for how much, and skim the recipes unless they seem particularly good. (I keep meaning to try that granola recipe; I have it saved). I read homeschool posts unless they’re about specific materials or something–with my oldest less than 2 I don’t need that right now.
